SANCHO ON TARGET AGAINST SOUTHAMPTON

England winger Jadon Sancho was on target for Manchester United against Southampton in the league, but his goal was not enough to hand the Red Devils an important win in the battle for a top-four spot in the Premier League at the end of this season. Jadon Sancho left German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund to sign for Manchester United in a high-profile transfer last summer, but the England international struggled at the start of this season. Sancho has started to find his feet as a Manchester United player in recent weeks as highlighted by the Southampton game.

Jadon Sancho scored just his second league goal this season when he gave Manchester United the lead during the Premier League home game with the Saints on Saturday lunchtime. The goal from the England player gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead at the half-time break at the expense of the Saints. Southampton were able to rescue a point via a 1-1 draw thanks to the second half strike from Che Adams.

With his goal against the Saints, England winger Sancho has now scored two goals in 20 league appearances to take his overall tally to four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Sancho made his 20th appearance in the Premier League this season when he was handed another league start by interim manager Ralf Rangnickduring the home game with Brighton and Hove Albion. The Brighton game was immediately after the home game with the Saints. England national team player Sancho was on for 80 minutes before he was replaced by Brazil international Alex Telles as Manchester United ended their wait for a victory with the 2-0 win over Brighton. The Red Devils were without a win in three games in all competitions before they faced the Seagulls at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
