Liverpool is worried after there were reports that forward Adam Lallana got injured whilst on international duty for England national team.
The player is a doubt for the game against Southampton this weekend as he limped off the 2-2 draw England played against Spain. The 28-year old star is having a form of his life for both club and country. He scored the first goal for the Three Lions from the penalty spot in the first half against the Spaniards.
“It was a great shame because I’ve really enjoyed working with him. He’s an intelligent, very talented footballer who’s adding goals to his game for England. He was quite key to how we were wanting to play,” Gareth Southgate said after the game.
The interim manager is unsure of the extent of the damage. Reds manager Jurgen Klopp would not be happy with the news as the Englishman has featured in every game for Liverpool this season. Liverpool are currently the log leaders in the Premier League and they would be keen on keeping things that way in the face of close competition from Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal in the top four.
Lallana scored in the 3-0 triumph over Scotland in the World Cup qualifying game last week. Liverpool would have to examine him before releasing official details on the player’s injury.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier is furious at Manchester United’s Ander Herrera after the Spain international elbowed him in the face during the England-Spain clash. Herrera made contact with the Spurs player five minutes from the final whistle.
“I think it’s pretty clear what he did and I can feel it on my cheek now. I’ve made a pass and it was a long time afterwards [that] he elbowed me in the face, and I just can’t see why. For me, it’s just ridiculous,” Dier said after the Wembley affair. Both players are poised to meet next month in the Premier League.
